Selling life size "sculptures" made entirely by LEGO for £10,000 each

Parents the world over have watched their sons playing with Lego and dreamed they'll go on to build successful careers as, say, high-flying lawyers.

Well, quite what the parents of Nathan Sawaya are now thinking - the 36-year-old quit his job as corporate lawyer in 2001 to return to his boyhood obsession - creating shapes with those colourful building blocks.

But before you smirk, the artist is proving there is more to Lego than child's play - by selling his brick-based creations for a staggering £10,000 each.

This piece of Lego art of a man rising up is called Red.

His works, which are shown in galleries across the globe and are in demand by top art dealers, include life-size 'sculptures' and can each use 150,000 of the familiar little bricks .

Nathan Sawaya's Lego work Swimmer.

Sawaya spends between eight to 12 hours each day creating with Lego, but it depends on what he's working on. 'Sometimes when he get really into a sculpture, I can spend 18 hours at a time. He spend a lot of time sketching out his ideas on special graph paper that has the brick shapes printed on it. Then the rest of the day is spent building.

Buyers needn't worry about the artworks coming apart though, when Nathan is happy with a creation he rebuilds it, this time glueing the bricks together.

ON winning the Oscar for her performance in The Reader, 34-year-old Kate paid glowing tribute to "my very own Sam".

However, the cracks in her six-year marriage to 44-year-old Brit film director Sam Mendes - himself an Oscar winner for American Beauty - were beginning to appear.

Reese Witherspoon

MARCH 5, 2006: "I want to say thank you to my wonderful husband."

NOVEMBER 2006: Filed for divorce.

MEETING on the set of hit flick Cruel Intentions, Reese and actor Ryan Phillippe married in 1999 and had two children together.

JANUARY 2010: Split.

SHE and Irish actor Stuart Townsend ended their nine-year relationship in January - almost six years after she picked up the Best Actress trophy for her acclaimed turn as a serial killer in Monster.

After being announced as the winner on that night, Charlize, now 34, had a lingering snog with Stuart, 37, before stepping up to the podium and praising him to the rafters. The pair never married because Charlize refused to wed until same-sex couples were given the same privilege in the US.

The couple split in January this year, with both removing their commitment rings.

Halle Berry

MARCH 24, 2002: "My husband, who is the joy of my life, and India - thank you for giving me peace.

Helen Hunt

MARCH 23, 1998: Thanked partner Hank - "The very best man I know."

JUNE 2000: Split.

AFTER landing the Best Actress Oscar in 1998 for As Good As It Gets, she thanked her other half, Hank Azaria - most famous for his voice work in The Simpsons.

At first their relationship looked as good as it gets and they tied the knot the following year in a ceremony at their unfinished California home in front of around 100 guests.

But by June 2000, 45-year-old Hank had moved out of the house and into a Bel-Air hotel, where he checked in under a false name. Six months later Helen, 46, filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" - but insisted that the pair still remained "good friends".

World tallest man meet World smallest man>>>

Sultan Kosen, the world's tallest man at 8ft 1in, and He PingPing, the world's smallest at 2ft 5.4in, clearly had a mutual respect when they meet each other.

The Turkish farm labourer and the pint-sized man from China were happy to pose at an event in Istanbul to mark the opening of the new Guinness World Records Live! Roadshow.

Kosen said: 'I've wanted to meet Pingping ever since I was awarded the title "tallest man" and I'm really happy that he was willing to travel to Turkey so we could both take part in the launch celebration,

Also the world record holder for the largest hands and feet, Kosen, 27, seized the title of world's tallest man from China's Bao Xishun (pic below) last September, beating his rival by 10cm.

Born and raised in the Mardin province of Turkey, Kosen's height is due to a condition known as pituitary gigantism. He lives with his family in Inner Mongolia, China and has travelled the world since being recognised by Guinness World Records.

Last year, He PingPing met Svetlana Pankratova (pic below), the woman with the world's longest legs - measuring 51.96in long.

After a series of surgeries to remove the tumor which was causing his excess growth, Kosen stopped growing in 2008.At the opposite end, He PingPing, 21, suffers from a condition known as Primordial Dwarfism.According to his father, at birth he was small enough to fit into the palm of his parent's hand. Can you imagine how tiny was that baby?...equivalent to a size of an apple!

'Giant' George,the world's tallest dog..the Size of a LION

He's taller than Shaquille O'Neal, weighs more than Peyton Manning and eats 110 pounds of food every month. He's George, a Great Dane who stands head and shoulders above the average pup.

'Giant' George, the world's tallest dog claimed the prestigious title after Guinness Records officials measured him up at 43 inches from paw to shoulder, or 7ft 3in when 'standing' on his back legs.

The four-year-old great dane weighs a staggering 17.5 stone and consumes 110lb of food each week. George even sleeps in his own queen-size bed.

His owner David Nasser, of Tucson, Arizona, is thrilled George has topped previous holder Titan, a four-year-old great dane from San Diego, who is 0.75 of an inch shorter than George.

A few days after George was declared a record-breaker, Giant George appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show.

Being such a giant did not comes easy for George. After much deliberation and discussion, American Airlines soffered to fly Giant George to Chicago for the Oprah Winfrey show.

George would not fit in a first-class row, so he got three of his own seats at the bulk-head...This meant that Giant George would be in the fuselage, like a regular passenger.

'Triumphantly, Giant George also earned the Guinness World Records for "Tallest Dog Ever," and "Tallest Living Dog."
